E-Cell

E-Cell IISWBM, or the E-Cell family, as is fondly called by its members, past and present, conducts multiple entrepreneurial activities every year. Activities that enhance the entrepreneurship spirit in the youth today,instill innovation and inspires mind growth. The family, whose members diversify from all departments across IISWBM.

For the Calendar year 2016-2017,E-Cell IISWBM conducted Umeed'16 and Entreprerna'17. The year was also rounded-off by seminars from National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), a Wadhwani Foundation Initiative.

Umeed'16, conducted on 09th September, 2016, was an amalgamation of three events. The first event saw underprivileged children from a foundation, being brought in. They were indulged in activities along with the students of IISWBM, thus giving them a platform to showcase and identifytheir potential. Second, there was a documentary competition where students from the institute made documentaries on the theme "The essence of Durga Puja", and the best ones were awarded prize money, encouraging them onto movie making. Last, but not the least, there was Kha-e-jao, the event every student waits for with baited breath. Students in this event showcased their marketing skills as well as entrepreneurial panache by selling innovative dishes. The maximum cash spinners were awarded with prize money.

Entreprernais the annual e-summit of E-Cell, IISWBM. Conducted in March every year it witnesses the presence of eminent industrialists who give insights on the dynamics of business and start-ups across the globe. The event also provides a platform for budding start-ups, to grow and gain exposure.

Entreprerna'17, conducted on 03rd March, 2017, was probably one of the biggest events in the history of IISWBM, owing to the fact that this time there were additions to the regular e-summit.People around the globe participated in Big Fish, a business plan competition for entrepreneurs. From over 240 entries, 10 best entrepreneurs were to pitch in their start-up ideas in front of an eminent jury. The Jury included Mr. Rajesh Singhal, Asst. VP at Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd., Mr. Mainak Bhattacharya, COO at Kolkata Angels Network, Eminent Entrepreneurs like Mr. RanadeepSaha, Rare Planet, Mr. Shoaib Mohammed and Mr. Jha. Team Pescado, offering products made of fish skins, was offered a partnership on the spot by Mr. RanadeepSaha. Home Team and Entrepreneurs from Team Organico won the Third Prize. The top Organico won the Third Prize. The top 3 teams were awarded with prize money and each of the 10 teams had chances to get venture funding. Apart from that, the event again saw the presence of eminent speakers like, Mr. Avelo Roy, MD of Kolkata Ventures also a Ted-X Speaker and Multi-Million Dollar Entrepreneur, Mr. JayabrataBhaduri, CEO of Capacloud, Mr. Prantik Sinha, CEO of Agustya Buoyant and Mr. Soumya Mukherjee, Co-Founder of Mad About Drama. The Chief Guest was Mrs. Agnimitra Paul, Designer Entrepreneur, and the icing on the cake was Mr. AnirbanDasgupta, a Comic and Entrepreneur.

E-Cell IISWBM also participated in the annual e-summit of E-Cell, IIM CALCUTTA, and the AIMA shaping young mind's programme wherein the CALCUTTA MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION collaborated with IIM CALCUTTA and members from the E-Cell were panellists with eminent personalities like Mr. Arun Lal and T.V. Mohandas Pai.

The session 2017-2018 is planned to be, the true going out year for the E-Cell. The plans for this year, with the inclusion of new members from all departments of IISWBM, include :

  The launch of a Campus Company by the E-Cell, to provide services in Marketing, Finance, Operations and HR.
  Plans to help start-up at least 2 home grown college companies from amongst the students, and support them whilst they take their first steps.
  Association with Calcutta Management Association, to help promote Entrepreneurship.
  Build an Entrepreneur Alumnus Database for IISWBM and connect.
  Conduct multiple Entrepreneurship Workshops round the year.
  Umeed'17 will be conducted to promote small scale entrepreneurs and help them with strategic advice for their businesses free of cost.
  Entrprerna'18 is planned to be the biggest event of the campus, Big Fish is likely to see extensive funding for its participants. Eminent names to        take the stage and share their stories.
