On 4th April 1997, Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM) and Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM) jointly funded and set up the Centre for Research in Materials Management (CRIMM), which is the first ever of its kind in supply chain management in the Asia-Pacific region. It is headquartered in the academic hub of Kolkata with the sole focus of advanced research in the field of Logistics, Supply Chain Management. It has offices in various IIMMs regional centres located at Vadodara (West), Delhi (North), Chennai (South) and Nagpur (Central), to facilitate the researchers to pursue fellowship and also to cover the various activities of CRIMM from other parts of India, under supervision from the Headquarters

The Centre has been created to provide for the following -

  • 01. To promote research in the field of Logistics, Supply Chain & Materials Management, which is of significance in the twenty first century.

  • 02. To enroll and guide researchers to carry out quality research assignments leading to award of Fellowship in Materials Management/Supply Chain Management.

  • 03. Providing linkages between academics, business and the industry professionals of purchasing and supply.

  • 04. Design research projects in line with the industrial needs.

  • 05. Organize active participation of Materials Managers in the industry towards designing research/ study for advancement in the field of materials management.

  • 06. To take up industrial research project work / consultancy and MDP’s in Materials Management (including in-house) for developing world-class materials management system.

  • 07. To render professional support to industries in problem solving projects, development activities, trouble shooting in Materials Management / Supply Chain Management, systematize materials control for effective management of the total supply chain, etc .

  Admission Criteria & Selection Procedure

An ideal candidate should have the following eligibility criteria -

  • Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University/Equivalent with minimum 50% marks and GDMM from IIMM with at least 55% marks, OR

  • Masters degree in any discipline or equivalent Post Graduate professional qualification (PGDMM/ PGDBM) with 50% marks

  • The candidate should have minimum working experience in SCM/MM-related field in any industry/ organization.

  • There is no age limit for registration.

  Total Course Fees & its Duration

The total fees payable for the entire program is Rs. 35,000/- which is payable in 4 installments and the duration is two years and in exceptional cases may be extended beyond 2 years subject to a maximum of 4 years.

For the 1st time in its history, CRIMM bagged an Industrial Research assignment from Mini-Ratna Company for a total value worth more than Rupees Thirteen Lakhs.The project has been completed and awaiting client's approval.CRIMM conducted an in-house training program for Store Managers of Simplex Infrastuctures Ltd.,Kolkata
